On October 31 (Tuesday), Plus W paid a visit to GIKI (official name: Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology), a major engineering university in Pakistan, renowned for its collaboration with universities and companies around the world, including in the United States, the United Kingdom, and China among others; as well as known for its educational policy that promotes innovation. During the visit, an exchange of views took place with Rector Prof. Dr. Fazal Ahmad Khalid (Sitara-i-Imtiaz) and with other faculty members from the Faculty of Engineering Sciences.

From Plus W, Mr. Shiono, Head of the Pakistan Japan Center, and Mr. Umair, Vice Head of the Pakistan Japan Center, participated in the meeting and discussed about the pressing need for software engineers in Japan who are skilled in cutting-edge technologies such as AI and Blockchain, and those who have strong work experience as well. In addition, Rector Ahmad shared that GIKI not only has a strong track record of research on cutting-edge technologies with foreign universities but has also conducted social implementations of many cutting-edge technologies in collaboration with foreign companies, and consequently, many of the students are also motivated to pursue employment opportunities overseas. In response to this strong interest, it was decided that Plus W will hold a 1-Day Workshop in early December to introduce the unique charm of working in Japan, being a technologically advanced country, as well as to introduce the job opportunities available for engineers and data scientists.

Using this discussion as an opportunity, we will further strengthen our relationship with GIKI and with many more universities as well and promote the further expansion of opportunities for Pakistani IT professionals and Pakistani IT companies to play active roles in Japanese companies. Furthermore, based on the selection by the Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry (METI) for the "New Business Creation Promotion Support Project in Emerging DX Countries", this initiative is being implemented as part of a demonstration for the development of advanced IT professionals, with a focus on IT, Japanese language and culture, in the human resources development field of Pakistan, as well as to promote their matching with Japanese companies.
