Visit to the AEMS and AFM laboratories of the National University of Science and Technology (NUST) in Pakistan

Dr. Mohsin Saleem gave us a description of our research equipment including AFM.

On May 11th, Mr. Honjo, Corporate Officer of our company, visited the Advanced Energy Materials & Systems (AEMS) and the Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) laboratories of the National University of Science and Technology of Pakistan (NUST), with the aim to promote collaboration between the laboratories of NUST and those of Japanese universities.

In his university and graduate school, Mr. Honjo was affiliated with the Electronic Material Properties laboratory at Kyoto University and was engaged in research related to nanotechnology. In particular, he has a background in the development of AFM and the fundamental properties of organic electronic devices using AFM and, therefore, he was very pleased to receive this opportunity to visit.

Dr. Nadia Shahzad (Associate Professor & HOD Research) of AEMS gave a detailed explanation of the equipment and facilities available in the laboratory as well as about research topics. The AFM installed in the laboratory was made by JEOL, a Japanese manufacturer. There was also an opportunity to discuss research papers, from Mr. Honjo’s alma mater laboratory, with Dr. Mohsin Saleem (Assistant Professor & Co-Founder and Chief Technical Officer of MatEnTx). Furthermore, there was also a discussion and an exchange of ideas about collaboration with laboratories in Japanese universities.

Moving forward, we will further explore the viability of opportunities such as joint research projects with laboratories in Japanese universities as well as exchange programs for researchers and students.
